Steve Wimmer, Middle School Boys
My name is Steve Wimmer and I am the Middle School Boys’ coach for the 2011-2012 basketball season. This will be my second season as Middle School Boys’ Coach. With most of last year’s team returning, I anticipate a strong team for this season. Middle school is the stepping stone to the upper level Barons teams and my aim is provide a solid base on which to build. Good sportsmanship, being a team player, and for some players, bringing out the leadership qualities that every team needs to be great, will be emphasized and nurtured.
My family has been involved with the Barons organization since 2007. I now have three boys playing basketball with the organization.
In 2008, I coached the inaugural elementary boys’ team, which played out of Hebron Baptist Church Rec. League. We finished the season at 9-2 and I have two of those players on this year’s middle school team. I also was an assistant with the Middle School and JV boys’ teams that year.
In 2009, I was the head coach for the JV boys team. We finished 20-13 with a third place finish at the East Coast Nationals in Lynchburg, VA.
In 2010, I became head coach with the Middle School boys’ team. With only one returning starter and a host of newcomers, we showed glimpses greatness. I look forward to 2011-12!
I am married to Elizabeth and we have eight children: Zachary (Varsity), Alexander (Barons Baseball), Nicholas (Middle School and Barons Baseball), Joshua (Middle School), Noah, Caroline , Rachel and the newest arrival, Teddy. With Teddy’s arrival and success on the court, I hope to coach for years to come.
