Brian Hughes, JV Boys Coach
Brian Hughes grew up playing basketball and was a two year starter at North Gwinnett High School. He was team captain and received the Team MVP award his senior year, leading the team in minutes played, rebounds, field goal percentage, points scored, assists, and steals. He led Gwinnett County in total and offensive rebounds his senior year and was selected to the Gwinnett County all star team by the Gwinnett Daily Press.
Brian started coaching basketball and baseball soon after his two boys were old enough to start playing in the local church and recreation leagues. His family came to GGC Barons for the 2009-10 season, looking for a more competitive Christian environment for his middle school aged home school boys. He has been assistant coach for the boys middle school team since that time, and looks forward to taking on the JV boys head coaching position for the 2011-12 season.
A strong believer that participation in sports can significantly contribute to a student’s Christian walk and overall education, Brian’s coaching philosophy is to teach the fundamentals of basketball with the goal of preparing the individuals and the team for the next level in basketball and the next stage of their lives. He emphasizes giving 100% at all times and being good stewards of the gifts each player and the team has been given by God.
